The Chairman of Richmondshire District Council met the schoolgirl who designed his official Christmas card this week.

Councillor Clive World said thankyou to Richmond School pupil Elsa Wright, whose drawing of robins adorn the cards he is sending out on behalf of the authority this year.

It was one of a number of festive designs created by students at the school which are being shared with the local community through exhibitions – some have also been turned into cards to send to residents in local care homes and sheltered accommodation.

“When I saw all the designs Elsa’s stood out for me,” said Councillor World.  “It is a beautiful drawing with amazing detail – Robins are associated with Christmas and cold, snowy winters, but also with lost loved ones and it is important to remember them at this time.

“I hope everyone receiving my cards likes the drawing as much as I do.”
