A decision on the future of Colburn lorry park will not be made until the new year.

Members of Richmondshire District Council last night (Dec 8) deferred a debate on a request to sell the site to Colburn Town Council – which wants to use it as a recreational area for the town.

They said they need more information before making a final decision on whether to go ahead with the sale.   The lorry park was set up to provide parking for local drivers – but it is now a popular overnight stop for drivers from all over the country.  Parking is free of charge but there are no facilities which leads to litter and waste left as a result of no toilet facilities.

A formal request to buy the land was made by Colburn Town Council in September this year.

They deferred the debate until their meeting in February 2021.
