The next phase of an initiative to boost high street business across Hambleton has been launched.

Posters have been put up across the market towns of Northallerton, Thirsk, Easingwold, Bedale, Stokesley and Great Ayton encouraging people to enjoy Hambleton safely.

They depict the hands, face, space messages associated with covid19 as well as urging people to play their part in the battle against the virus and what to do if they get symptoms.

The ‘Enjoy Hambleton Safely’ campaign was initially launched by the District Council at the end of lockdown – using cash from ERDF (European Regional Development Fund) to pay for posters, business packs and floor stickers.  At that point the focus was on queuing, social distancing and making people feel safe when they visited the newly reopened market places.

“This phase sees that work enhanced and broadened to encourage people to continue to visit our towns,” said Council Leader, Councillor Mark Robson.

“We want businesses to know we haven’t forgotten about them – we are working hard to support them in any way we can during these difficult times.  With the festive season soon upon us we want shoppers to know Hambleton is a safe place to come to get those presents and Christmas treats.”

Business packs will also be handed out to all businesses in the high streets over the coming weeks.

The safe re-opening of the market towns is a key priority for the District Council’s Vibrant Market Town Team.
