£5,000 each will be awarded to three community organisations – Stokesley and District Community Care Association, Community Works in Thirsk and Easingwold and District Community Care Association. Hambleton Foodshare will receive £10,000 because it covers the Bedale and Northallerton areas.

The cash will be used to directly support those who need it most.

Leader of Hambleton District Council, Councillor Mark Robson said “Sadly, now more than ever, there are people in our district who simply cannot afford to buy food and other necessities and its only right we try and help.

“COVID has taken its toll on many families financially and in the lead up to Christmas I want to make sure we are doing everything we can to help and support people in accessing food, toiletries and other goods.

“In Hambleton there is huge community spirit and working together as a team has never been more important. Its right as a council that we lead the way in doing our bit to help those who need it most.”
